Support this guy to keep him out of jail?

Just suppose for a moment that Donald J. Trump actually becomes a presidential candidate in 2024.

What is this twice-impeached former POTUS going to use as a campaign slogan? He is facing the probability of being indicted by the feds or state prosecutors on a number of alleged crimes.

However, there is some chatter out there that a presidential candidacy actually might shield him from being prosecuted by the authorities.

I can see it now: Support Trump … your vote will keep him out of prison.

How does he justify a return?

Donald Trump continues to rattle around out there, making speeches and issuing pronouncements and condemnations. He keeps yammering about the Big Lie and just cannot get past the fact that he lost the 2020 election to Joe Biden.

Now we see an astonishing number of senior Trump aides turning on him.

The former attorney general, two former defense secretaries, a press secretary, aides to the ex-first lady, all have turned on The Donald.

He might be indicted for crimes committed during his term in office.

We keep hearing reports of totally bizarre notions coming from his mouth. How he considered bombing Mexico to stop drug traffickers. How he keeps talking about the size of his crowds and how all those cheering fanatics give his pronouncements credibility they do not deserve.

Oh, and how about the Mother’s Day message he sent out that was filled with epithets he hurled at left-leaning judges and anyone who opposes him?

This guy says he is thinking about running again for president. For the third time?

We’ve had one president serve two non-consecutive terms. Grover Cleveland was elected in 1884, lost re-election to Benjamin Harrison in 1888, then defeated President Harrison in 1892. Cleveland lost in 1888 because Harrison got enough Electoral College votes while Cleveland garnered more ballots. Hmm. Did the defeated Cleveland claim electoral theft? Nope.

I cannot yet come to grips with the notion that the former Moron in Chief is actually being considered a frontrunner for the Republican nomination in 2024. Oh, but wait! Now we hear from actual GOP politicians who are finally speaking out against the idiot.

All of this leaves me shaking my noggin in disbelief.

I am going to stick with my previously stated view that all of this is a sham. The Donald ain’t gonna run. I just wish he would fade away.

If POTUS 45 runs in ’24, then he proves his insanity

By John Kanelis / johnkanelis_92@hotmail.com

I have climbed way out on the limb and suggested that the 45th POTUS wouldn’t dare run for the presidency in 2024.

The former Numbskull in Chief is sending signals that he intends to perform the insane act of running … again!

I shouldn’t have returned ever so briefly to the world of political predicting. Or so you might presume. Except that I am not yet convinced he is going to commit to another presidential campaign.

The imbecile is facing potential criminal indictments. His company already is under indictment. There might be more to come. Indeed, I think there will be more to come. He is in debt up to his ample keister.

But … this is a period of political insanity, I suppose.

The clown show never ends.

Donald won’t run … ever again

By John Kanelis / johnkanelils_92@hotmail.com

Against my better judgment, I am going to offer something that to some will resemble a political prediction, except that I have given up on predicting things political.

So, here goes. It is my considered opinion that Donald Trump will decide that he cannot win the presidency back from President Biden. Nor does he even have confidence in winning the Republican Party presidential nomination in 2024.

You see, The Donald is now in command of the nut job wing of the GOP. So help me I am beginning to hear the faint stirring of establishment Republicans who finally are finding the voices that left them during Trump’s two impeachment trials.

Former House Speaker Paul Ryan — one of the chief GOP weenies — has said the party is doomed if it gloms onto following an individual rather than adhering to a philosophy. Rep. Liz Cheney continues to pound Trump for inciting the riot on Jan. 6. Sen. Mitt Romney and five other Republican senators voted to create a bipartisan commission to examine the cause of the Trump-inspired insurrection.

Is there a pattern developing? Oh, I certainly hope so.

Trump might find it more to his advantage to pull some strings behind the scenes rather than expose himself to the possibility of losing the GOP nomination, let alone the probability of losing another general election in just a little more than three years.

I have no way of knowing any of this will play out as I hope it does. So I am going to avoid predicting such an outcome.

Oh, and we also have the prospect of criminal indictments in New York City and in Fulton County, Ga., involving Trump, his company and perhaps even members of The Donald’s family. Are there truly enough whack jobs among Republicans to nominate and elect the former chief imbecile to the nation’s highest office?

If so, then we’re in a whole lot more trouble than any of us imagined.

Make me happy … Donald

By John Kanelis / johnkanelis_92@hotmail.com

Donald John Trump said this today:

“I’m loving what I do and I’m loving the result that we’ve had and I think people will be very happy with my decision.”

The decision to which he refers is whether he runs for president in 2024.

I’ll concede that I will be happy only if he makes the correct decision.

That would include the following conclusions:

  • I cannot be nominated by a Republican Party that has been decimated by my backstabbing, Twitter-loving messages.
  • Prosecutors are going to indict me on allegations that I committed several crimes in at least two states.
  • I already have lost two presidential election popular votes and I have embarrassed myself by declaring that the 2020 election was stolen from me because of rampant voter fraud.
  • There was no rampant fraud.

Is he going to do any or all of that? Oh … probably not.

If he jumps into the 2024 campaign, which would surprise me to no end given the obstacles he must confront, then I won’t be “happy” with his decision.

If he stays out of the race, well, that would bring a smile to my face.
