Stop the presses! Mooch predicts POTUS dropping out

Anthony Scaramucci has climbed way out on the proverbial limb with this prediction.

The former short-term White House communications director said that Donald Trump is going to bail out of the 2020 presidential race by next March. Yep, that’s The Mooch’s crystal ball talking to him and to us.

Do you believe The Mooch is a credible source on this one? Well, I don’t either.

The Mooch, who served as WH communications chief for 11 whole days before Trump fired him at the start of his administration, told the Huffington Post that Trump cannot stand the thought of losing his re-election bid. He said it won’t dawn on Trump until March 2020 that he doesn’t stand a chance of being re-elected.

So, according to The Mooch, he’ll drop out.

The idea that The Mooch would say such a thing out loud tells me that will inspire Trump to fight even harder to stay in office.

I’ll be candid. A major part of me wants to believe Scaramucci knows what he’s talking about. I would love few things more in life than knowing that Donald Trump will not seek a second term as president of the United States. That he was elected in the first place simply blows my mind.

The other major part of me realizes, though, that The Mooch likely doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

If only I could be assured that The Mooch knows something about POTUS that no one else knows.

‘Mooch’ turns on Trump

Anthony Scaramucci no longer supports the re-election of the man he once admired, whose friendship he coveted.

The Mooch says Donald Trump’s rhetoric has gone way past the pale in recent weeks and months. So, the one-time White House communications director says he’s done with Donald.

But a CNN analyst, Chris Cillizza, disputes The Mooch’s characterization of Trump’s rhetoric. He says Trump is the same old, race-baiting, insult-hurling xenophobe he’s been since he entered political life. Cillizza, moreover, wonders whether The Mooch is trying to cover his own backside by asserting that Trump’s rhetoric of late has gotten worse.

I believe The Mooch is trying to seek some justification for his former support of this disgraceful man masquerading as POTUS.

Indeed, Trump’s rhetoric in reality is no more inflammatory than it has been since he declared his candidacy in June 2015.

As Cillizza pointed out, Trump did mock a New York Times reporter’s disability, he criticized a Gold Star family who made anti-Trump remarks at the 2016 Democratic National Convention, he said the late Sen. John McCain was a “war hero only because he got captured” and was held captive during the Vietnam War, he told an “Access Hollywood” interview how he grabbed women by their genitals … and on and on it has gone. You get the idea.

The Mooch, who served as communications chief at the White House for 11 days before getting fired, once stood firmly behind the president. No more.

Hey, I’m fine with The Mooch saying these critical things about the president. He just doesn’t need to fabricate some notion that what Trump is saying now is different in tone and tenor from what he’s been saying all along.

Many millions of us saw it from the beginning, Mooch.

Welcome aboard.

Hannity needs a new gig: How about WH adviser?

Sean Hannity is crossing a serious line that is supposed to separate the media from those on whom they report and provide commentary.

The Fox News host reportedly talks regularly with Donald John Trump, as in nightly after his TV talk show. The president is a big fan of Hannity, who’s been a stalwart defender of the president throughout his entry into public life as a candidate for high office and then an occupier of it.

I have argued that Hannity isn’t a journalist in the sense of the word we normally associate with it. He isn’t trained in the craft. He dropped out of two colleges. He has been a staple of conservative media for many years, owing to his gift of gab.

I have an idea for Hannity to ponder. Give up the Fox gig and ask your pal the POTUS if he has something for you to do at the White House. He doesn’t have a communications director. The last one, Hope Hicks, quit. I figure that Hannity is at least as qualified as the previous two communications chiefs, Hicks and The Mooch — aka Anthony Scaramucci.

Hannity already has been outed as a secret “client” of one of Trump’s lawyers, Michael Cohen. Yeah, yeah, I know: Hannity says he wasn’t an actual “client” of Cohen, that they discussed real estate issues or some other nonsense. But he does have a relationship with him and he failed to disclose that relationship while he took up the cudgel in Cohen’s defense while also defending Cohen’s other client, Donald Trump.

But if the reports are true of Hannity’s cozy relationship with the president — that he might be discussing policy issues with him and perhaps even briefing the Big Man on what he ought to say about this and/or that — then quit the pretense.

Ask Trump for a job. I’d bet real American money he would find one for you. Fox won’t have any trouble finding someone to replace you on the air.
