Are they pro-cop or not?

Thomas Webster has just become the latest symbol of the hypocrisy we hear coming from the mouths of politicians and their supporters who purport to be “pro law enforcement.”

Webster has just received a 10-year prison sentence for his participation in the 1/6 assault on our government, on the attack on Capitol Hill.

Webster happens to be a former New York police officer who was convicted of assaulting a Capitol Police officer during that heinous attack. A judge sentenced the ex-cop to the longest sentence yet coming from the myriad trials emanating from the 1/6 assault.

But where are the statements of support for Webster’s sentence from those on the right, those who — until the Age of Trump — were known to be pro-law enforcement, pro-police, pro-lock ’em up and toss the key.

These days we hear them condemning the cops, the FBI, the intelligence community.

The world has been upside-down. It’s making me dizzy.

Run, Josh, run!

You know, it’s almost not worth any time to comment on one of the pieces of evidence revealed Thursday night during the televised House 1/6 select committee hearing.

Aww, but what the heck …

There was that hilarious snippet of video showing U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., scurrying to a safe place to get away from the traitors who were attacking the U.S. Capitol. Why mention it?

Because this was the same Josh Hawley who egged the mob on with that hideous clenched-fist salute earlier that day.

What do we surmise from the young man’s display of bravado.

Was it all for show? Did he realize what the mob intended to do? Was he ordered to the safe place by the Capitol cops on duty and who were fighting for their own lives while protecting senators and House members?

Whatever. It all makes for a curious juxtaposition of a young hothead senator being revealed — quite possibly — as a cowardly hypocrite.

The ‘law and order’ party? My a**!

Can it truly be that the “party of law and order” — aka the Republican Party — has become the party of violence and chaos?

How else does one explain the absence of all but two prominent GOP members at the House of Representatives ceremony honoring the officers who sacrificed so much during the 1/6 riot?

Only U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney and her dad, former Vice President Dick Cheney, thought enough of the officers to attend the House’s moment of silence honoring the valiant law enforcement officers who fought like hell to hold off the violent mob that stormed the Capitol a year ago.

The rest of ’em? They hid out. They were somewhere other than in the House chamber that came under direct attack by the domestic terrorists who sought to block Congress’s certification of the 2020 presidential election, the one that chose Joe Biden over the 45th POTUS.

This is the party that used to proclaim itself to be the “party of law and order.” It would fight like the dickens to protect the honor of our police officers. It would shame others who favor squishy social reform policies.

These days it’s a different sort of political party, or so one would presume. Every single member of Congress should have been present at the moment of silence event to honor the men and women who followed their oath to protect and serve the members of Congress. They were true to their pledge to protect them.

The Republicans who stayed away shamed themselves — yet again — with their denial that the world witnessed a direct assault on our Constitution.

Not an ‘insurrection?’ Are they serious?

By JOHN KANELIS / johnkanelis_92@hotmail.com

The Terrible Ten members of the U.S. House of Representatives have shamed the Capitol Police Department officers who were injured in a desperate attempt to protect them from insurrectionists on Jan. 6.

Yep, their refusal to support honoring the police officers who fought off the mob still stick in my craw. Congress eventually voted to award them the Congressional Gold Medal over the objections of the 10 nut jobs who just didn’t like the word “insurrectionists” inserted into the resolution honoring the officers.

Oh, let’s not forget that one of the Capitol cops who fought the rioting terrorists died in the melee.

What in the name of democracy do you call a mob that stormed the Capitol Building, beat officers to a pulp with flag poles carrying Donald Trump banners and Old Glory? What do you call those who shouted “Hang Mike Pence!” while they stormed the halls looking for the vice president of the United States? What in the name of decency do you call those who defecated on the floor of our democratic institutions while seeking to do physical harm to Speaker Nancy Pelosi?

That isn’t an insurrection? They sought to stop the counting of Electoral College votes that certified the election of Joe Biden as president and Kamala Harris as vice president.

By any definition I can conjure up, that is an insurrection.

Every single House member and senator who seeks to call it something else should be removed from office. They have disgraced the very government they took an oath to protect and defend.

Trump reveals his ‘love’

By JOHN KANELIS / johnkanelis_92@hotmail.com

Donald John Trump told the rioters/terrorists/mobsters/hooligans/thugs who stormed Capitol Hill on the Sixth of January that he “loved” them.

The lame-duck president of the United States has not yet expressed any public “love” for the Capitol Police officers who fought the rioters. He hasn’t expressed any “love” for the individuals who were injured. Trump hasn’t offered a single word of condolence or compassion for those who died in the melee. Donald Trump has yet to say a single word out loud and in public about the threat of assassination that confronted then-Vice President Mike Pence and the members of both congressional chambers who were targeted by the rioters.

Does that tell you all you need to know about the individual who now stands trial in the Senate for inciting the rioters to commit the crimes against the nation?

I need to know nothing more about this individual.
