GOP has no governing platform

Anyone who believes today’s Republican Party has a governing platform that is worth a damn needs to pay careful attention to what is being reported all around the world.

It is that the GOP is — and has been — the exclusive property of a one-time real estate developer and a former TV “reality show” host who in 2016 stumbled into the U.S. presidency.

Put another way, Donald J. Trump has no policy, no guiding principles, no moral compass to guide him. He makes policy up as he goes along and that “policy,” and I use the term with an abundance of caution, somehow becomes the policy of the MAGA cult that is running the once-great political party.

Democratic nominee Kamala Harris is on the verge of unveiling her economic policy. She will present it perhaps before Democrats meet next week in Chicago to send her into the fight with Trump as their party’s nominee.

I met someone today who expressed support for the “Republican Party platform.” I answered that the party “doesn’t have one.” This individual wouldn’t buy that idea. We changed the subject.

This is the kind of stubborn notion that is so damn hard to expunge from Republicans’ noggins.

Of course, this all ignores the deep moral failings that Trump has exhibited his entire adult life.

I have been impressed by the rant offered by Democratic VP nominee Tim Walz, who reminds us that “public service” is a foreign concept to Trump. I have been saying since the day his political career began that Trump has spent his entire professional life focused on one thing: enriching himself. He purports to be a populist but doesn’t give a damn about the millions of disenfranchised Americans who need a real champion, not one who portrays himself as a populist on the campaign stump.

So, when Republicans tout their party platform, they should add a caveat that reminds us that it’s all a creation of Donald Trump’s demented mind.

  1. Which policies will she discuss, the ones from 2019 until three weeks ago or the ones sheā€™s flip flopped to now?

Trump showed his policies when he was in office, WHEN THE COUNTRY WAS A HELL OF A LOT BETTER! Better foreign relations, MUCH better economy, southern border basically closed, China paying their share on trade, oil and gas independence, and many more.

Donā€™t bring up shit when the pandemic started. Democrats hog tied him from doing what was really needed. Anything he did they called him racist and then when heā€™s out of office did the EXACT damn thing.

  2. Oh, again, sheā€™s going to state what sheā€™ll do if elected. She was elected three and a half years ago and hasnā€™t done shit except cackle!

    Facts are stubborn little things.

The United States is producing more oil than ever. More than when Trump was in office.

Drill baby drill isnā€™t going to bring inflation down. We are already drilling baby.

Inflation IS down- retail spending is up. Tariffs on China hurt the American consumer- who ultimately pays the higher prices on all imported goods that have tariffs attached.

The GOP has no plan on lowering healthcare costs.

Border crossings are down as well.

Trumpism is nothing more than name calling, bullying and division.

    Go Kamala !

    1. You may want to check those numbers and look at a site other than government sponsored.

Inflation numbers are inaccurate as well. Ask any consumer analyst. Plus, take a look at the grocery store.

Border crossings are down as of a little more than a month ago when Biden put back into place Trumpā€™s border policy.

  4. Letā€™s talk flip flops:

Trump was for banning Tik Tok until the principles there donated heavily to Republicans.

He was for a national ban on abortions and took credit for the reversal of Roe v Wade until it became unpopular. He eliminated most references to any pro life issues in the pared down GOP platform and refuses to talk about abortion and tells other Republicans to hush on the subject as well.

Heā€™s now for electric vehicles after Elon threw his support behind him- ( the conversation between those two narcissists was a hoot ).

He threw his friends at Project 2025 under the bus after the platform and policy ideas became a drag on him. He had praised the project and his friends, who produced it, earlier.

I could go on but itā€™s lunch time.

    Balls to the Walz!

  5. Trump still against Tik Tok.

He hasnā€™t changed position on abortion. Itā€™s been the same for quite awhile now. Heā€™s more center on the issue than far right conservatives.

Heā€™s been for electric vehicles for along time. Heā€™s always said thereā€™s a place for them but they are not a cure all and canā€™t completely replace internal combustion vehicles.

He acknowledged Project 2025 BRIEFLY until he look into it more. He then came out against it. That was a long time ago.

Now youā€™re just making up crap.

    1. The name is Bill or William by family.

You reference a site that costs over a thousand dollars a year to access? Thatā€™s funny!

  6. Kamalaā€™s revealed her economic proposals. They are disastrous.

Price controls on groceries and rent controls will cause shortages on groceries and rent properties.

These arenā€™t new ideas and they are certainly not free-market solutions. Bureaucrats will be deciding what we pay for lettuce.

ā€œ The problem with socialism is eventually you run out of other peopleā€™s money.ā€ Thatcher

Well- the thrill is gone. I was hoping for better.

Iā€™ll have to look at RFK now.

    1. Wow! I was coming here to say the exact same thing, minus the RFK part. What the hell is she thinking, or her team?

If I thought RFK had a chance, I might consider it.
