Judiciary under attack

Our nation’s founders had this notion that today seems rather quaint that lifetime appointments to the federal judiciary would shield judges from the kind of political pressure that dogs members of the legislative and executive branches of the federal government.

The concept worked quite well. Then came the MAGA movement, Donald Trump and now the actual threat of impeachment of federal judges who rule against the Trumpian view of the world.

Holy crap!

A federal judge in Rhode Island has ruled that Trump must unfreeze federal money appropriated by Congress. His actions to stop payments violate the U.S. Constitution, said the judge. The MAGA response? Well, we’ll just see about that, they say. MAGA morons are reportedly lobbying their allies in Congress to impeach the judge because he had the stones to speak truth to the morons who think they can ignore the Constitution at will.

The first three articles in the Constitution dealt, in order, with legislative power, executive power and judicial power. The founders seemingly believed that Congress deserved top billing, thus delineating its authority in Article I. Therefore, when Congress authorizes the expenditure of public money, that authority cannot be challenged by tinhorn politicians.

Trump is seeking to rewrite the Constitution by flouting the authority it grants to Congress … and to the courts. The Rhode Island judge noted specifically that Trump has ignored earlier court rulings and said point-blank that he must be found in contempt of the court. Indeed, Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts noted in his year-end review of the court said that any effort to defy the courts must be stopped.

You want a constitutional crisis? I believe we might have them on several fronts, each of which would make Watergate and the Trump-incited insurrection look like a game of horseshoes.

  1. I can’t believe you’re so in favor of wasteful spending. Still going after the messengers and not a damn word about the waste, and potential corrupt, spending our congress has been doing. It’s simply amazing! If this were reversed , you’d be all over republicans for what they are spending on. Instead, you’re supporting the waste and targeting the ones exposing the bullshit.

    None of us would run our household budgets the way our government does and yet you support them. Heaven forbid it’s Trump’s Administration uncovering the waste and corruption. Simply amazing where your priorities are!

    Yet Trump’s approval rating is at 53%. Someone obviously approves of the deep dive they are doing.

  2. The court ordered a pause in the spending cuts.

    The President cannot simply undo what the congress has approved.

    Trump of course is not fully compliant to the Judges orders.

    If Trump refuses to comply and the DOJ doesn’t arrest him for contempt, we have a constitutional crises.

    Will Trump order the military to round up Democrats?

    He’s exacting his revenge on all his perceived enemies.

    It’s a fair question with sobering possibilities.

    Trump is also wanting to colonize Gaza and expel the Palestinians from their homeland. On what authority?
    He also want to colonize Greenland and Canada.

    It took Hitler forty five days to dismantle the German government- it might take less time for Trump to dismantle ours.

    Still, not a damn word on the probable corrupt, wasteful spending our congress has been approving. We can’t leave it to congress as you imply. They are the ones that have created the waste and probable corruption.

    Are you upset that this administration is so transparent? Evidently, you like to be left in the dark when it comes to government. You guys love big government, that is apparent. It’s. It the government’s function to create jobs. Our government has become the largest employer. As long as we keep it that way, democracy is lost. The people are way too dependent on government.

    It’s been shown already that there are employees getting millions while on a little over $100,000 salaries. They are funneling money through the organizations they are getting funding from our government.

      Not one bit! I’m more appalled how two adults can’t grasp the wasteful, possibly corrupt, spending our federal government has been doing. Instead, you choose to attempt to hammer the messengers with name calling and bullshit ideas of the fall of America. That is so laughable coming from adults. I’d expect it from teenagers, but not seasoned adults. I thought you guys would have learned something by now. As much as Trump is an ass, he’s been proven right way. ore times than wrong when the facts come out.

      Hell, even Jon Stewart has started going after bureaucrats for their spending, and pointing at democrats!

    He calls people names – like Gavin Newscum- he post on social media that he hates Taylor Swift.

    He talks about the size of Arnold Palmer’s d:ck in front of Palmer’s daughter.

    There is so much material I could use-simply put, he has normalized hatred.

    And you are worried about money ?

    It’s a Pyrrhic victory- a Faustian bargain.

    Saved a little money – destroyed the constitution- caused such division that few people from different points of view speak to each other anymore.

    What’s appalling ; you love it all.

    1. A little money? Billions, so far and they’ve just begun. It’s also uncovering the corruption in our federal government. I guess you are okay with that.

      If you’d read, I never said anything about Trump acting like an adult. In fact, I called him an ass. I don’t care who the messenger is. I care that they are uncovering way too much waste and corruption. Democrats aren’t upset at who’s doing the uncovering. They are upset because they are being exposed. There will be some republicans caught up in the waste and corruption as well. That’s great! They should be exposed.

      Since you only care about the who, I’ll leave you alone and shut up, for now.

      If weather permits, I’ll be in DC next week or the week after. I’ll be touching base with old friends, several who still work for the government. It’s probably 50-50 republican to democrat. I’m sure they have more insight than is being reported.
