RIP, Republican Party

May a once-great political party rest in peace while those who remain loyal to what it once stood for find the courage to shirk its current incarnation.

Republicans, you have a stern challenge ahead of you … even if hell freezes over and the MAGA warrior in chief actually wins the 2024 presidential election.

I fear the once-Grand Old Party has been hijacked by a huckster disguised as a politician. The men and women who are its stoutest adherents all comprise a group of dimly lit chuckleheads who somehow have managed to be heard above the din in this wildest of presidential election campaigns.

The MAGA cult would have us believe that Democrats caused Hurricanes Helene and Milton to ravage the Southeast. They also seem to believe that immigrants are eating our puppies and kitties. They also continue to insist that the2020 presidential election was stolen from their guy, who actually was indicted by the US House for …. trying to steal the election.

Republicans once called a candidate’s character to be the end-all to determine their fitness for high office.  These days? They embrace the blathering of a boastful Bozo.

More items are revealed daily.  My latest favorite involves reporting by Robert Woodward that the 45th POTUS offered to give COVID test kits to Russian thug Vladimir Putin while they were being rationed to Americans who also were suffering — and dying — from the killer virus.

The Republican Party I knew as a child and as a much younger adult no longer exists.

I am going to miss it as long as it remains captive to the gullible goons who call its cadence.

  1. Very funny coming from a person, can’t assume gender, that supports the party that:

    1. Doesn’t know what a woman is
    2. Supports changing genders and keeping it from the parents
    3. Wants an open border
    4. Supports killing babies up until birth
    5. Circumvented our election procedures. Harris wasn’t the first choice, second choice, third choice, fourth choice, or even the fifth choice
    6. Has become the party of war

There are so many more that could be added here. The Democratic Party can’t be recognized at all anymore. Harris is way too radical to lead this country.

When you look at voter registration, democrats have lost way more folks than the Republican Party. The latest I believe is democrats have lost around 6% registered voters and republicans have gained 13% of registered voters. It’s now estimated there are more registered republicans than democrats. Now, will all that’s registered voters? Not a chance.

  2. I suggest the book “ The Cult of Trump” for an in depth explanation of the tactics Trump uses to brainwash many of his followers.

It’s both fascinating and disturbing to understand how hard it is for many of these good people to be set free from the grips of a cult leader.

  3. The brainwashing are those that follow the mainstream media and won’t think for themselves. I’ve yet to watch or listen to a Trump rally. I don’t read his posts and don’t listen to Fox News. I follow what’s actually happening to actual people. Like I’ve said before, I’ve got friends and family alive this great land. They are the true testament of what happening to Americans.

  4. The title of that shows it’s a definite hit peace without true substance. I’d say the same if it were about someone on the left. Real journalism doesn’t start that graphic.

    1. You’re lecturing me on what constitutes “real journalism”? I don’t need a lesson on what I have been doing for four decades. You ought to stick with what you know.

      1. Kanelis2012,

If you read it correctly, I’m referring to the article that DM posted the link to as DM is the person I was replying to.

  5. BJ-

If you don’t listen to Trump at his rallies, ( yesterday a town hall where he was supposed to answer questions bizarrely turned into forty minutes of him awkwardly dancing) ,read his post or watch the lapdogs at Fox; how do you formulate an opinion of him as a candidate.

I filled my car up yesterday with gas that costs $2.65 a gallon. My 401k continues to grow as the stock market rises.

Food inflation, which I’m very aware of as I make thousands of dollars in purchases every week, has dropped dramatically. Job growth is up.

Violent crime has dropped. Border crossings have decreased.

Overall I don’t find much to be upset about.

I guess your family and friends live in a very different world.

  6. It’s common for the economy to get a push during an election year, especially if Democrats are in power. It’s happened consistently over the last several decades. I don’t know what you economic status is, but my family is pretty much lower middle class. They’ve suffered that last three and a half years. The “boost” means nothing but emptiness as this time. My friends are a mix from low income to fairly wealthy. My Democrat friends have voice concerns the last three years. We are all tired of seeing our money being sent overseas and not to our citizens that need it. We are tired of paying student loans that OUR NOT OURS!! We are tired of illegals getting more in aid than our citizens, especially veterans!! We are tired of illegals taking over apartment complexes and people justifying it by saying “it’s only a few complexes”. What the hell is wrong with people to think a handful is okay.

Harris has done ZERO for this country. She has ZERO policies she can reference. Trump has policies that were proven during his time in office. You have to disregard the pandemic. Most of you are simply voting for Harris because you hate Trump. That’s not a logical reason to vote for our president.

The “dancing” was debunked by ABC today, so there’s that. The media will do its best to discredit anyone other than a Democrat.

But, you are certainly free to vote for whomever you like. If Harris wins I doubt there will be mass exiting the country or violence. If Trump wins there won’t be mass exiting either, even though Hollywood elite have stated that multiple times but never do. Now for violence, I wish I could be confident there would be peace. But the 2020 “peaceful” protests say otherwise.

My question would be, how can you vote for someone that doesn’t have a record at all much less a proven record?
