President Biden has his hands full trying to fend off Republican critics of his decision to end our military involvement in Afghanistan.
It begs a critical question.
What if Joe Biden had decided once he took office that we needed to stay there? Or had he decided to bring more troops onto the field of battle? And then we would have sustained casualties while the fighting raged on?
Do you suppose that would have made those sitting in the GOP peanut gallery happy? Hah! Not even, man.
They would have accused him of reneging on his predecessor’s pledge to “end the useless war” in Afghanistan.
Yes, we have a mess on our hands. I am going to give President Biden the benefit of the doubt — although it’s not an endless benefit — that he can fix this evacuation crisis.
As for the criticism he is receiving for ending our conflict, he is being damned for doing the right thing.
Iāve not heard anyone ādamningā him for leaving. Iāve certainly heard, rightfully so, the planned used to pull out. Iāve even heard CNN and MSNBC say they should have had a plan. When those two are admitting it, you know he screwed up.
There was a plan.
The scenario playing out was the plan??? LOL
There was a plan, it has been explained to the public and the Afghan army (the only part out of US control) was predicted to āholdā for a period of time much longer than just a few days.
What happens next in all this chaos is very unpredictable and, also, out of our control. The only certainty is that the US will use all the available resources to save American lives.
The withdrawal has always been a dangerous part of any military action. Especially, without a peace treaty with the opponent. The more the āguerrillaā tactics used by the adversary, the more dangerous it is.
Do all the second guessing you want. Real Americans will never forget how Republicans turned their back on this Country after January 6, 2021.
