{"id":894,"date":"2012-10-12T12:55:00","date_gmt":"2012-10-12T12:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/highplainsblogger.wordpress.com\/2012\/10\/12\/good-job-mr-vice-president"},"modified":"2012-10-12T12:55:00","modified_gmt":"2012-10-12T12:55:00","slug":"good-job-mr-vice-president","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/highplainsblogger.com\/?p=894","title":{"rendered":"Good job, Mr. Vice President"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"twitter-share\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/intent\/tweet?via=jkanelis\" class=\"twitter-share-button\">Tweet<\/a><\/div>\n<p>After watching the vice-presidential debate Thursday night, I came away with this thought: I would love to have been a fly on the proverbial wall when President Obama called Vice President Biden to congratulate him for some pretty stellar work on behalf of the Democratic ticket.<\/p>\n<p>Imagine that the phone rang in Biden\u2019s limo as he left the debate venue.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Biden<\/strong>: Hello, Mr. President?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Obama<\/strong>: After watching you tonight, Mr. Vice President, I only can say that you took me to school. And by the way, I\u2019m going to call you \u201cMr. Vice President\u201d from now on. No more just plain \u201cJoe\u201d from me, sir.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Biden<\/strong>: What do you mean, I took you to school?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Obama<\/strong>: You instructed me with cold precision on just how a politician brings his A-game to a debate. I messed up the other night in that first debate with Mitt Romney. It won\u2019t happen again. I guarantee it. After watching your full frontal assault on Paul Ryan, I now know what I have to do the next time Romney and I get together for Round Two.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Biden<\/strong>: Well, thank you, Mr. President. I\u2019m a loyal soldier and, let\u2019s face it \u2013 to borrow a phrase they say down in Texas \u2013 this wasn\u2019t my first rodeo. But as you probably will find out, the Republicans thought their guy won and Democrats will think I won. But here\u2019s the thing: We got our base fired up once again. I\u2019m pretty sure we\u2019ve at least stopped the momentum Romney gained after the Round One of your debate. And don\u2019t forget that their base is fired up too.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Obama<\/strong>: OK then. Thanks for teeing it up for me. But if you don\u2019t mind, I probably won\u2019t laugh next week as much as you did.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Biden<\/strong>: Suit yourself, Mr. President.
