Congressional Republicans &#8212; feeling pretty flush themselves with their takeover of the Senate after the 2014 mid term election &#8212; are going to dig in their heels.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"8NnD8E2UAZ\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/231386-can-obama-keep-rising\/\">Can Obama keep rising?<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Can Obama keep rising?&#8221; &#8212; The Hill\" src=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/231386-can-obama-keep-rising\/embed\/#?secret=AuGSgzAsnI#?secret=8NnD8E2UAZ\" data-secret=\"8NnD8E2UAZ\" width=\"474\" height=\"267\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Get ready for the fight.<\/p>\n<p>So many fronts. So many battles. So many hassles.<\/p>\n<p>Ah, politics. Ain&#8217;t it noble?<\/p>\n<p>Polling suggests Obama is scoring better with some key demographic groups. Hispanics and young voters are approving of the president once\u00a0again.\u00a0Hispanics particularly are buoyed by the president&#8217;s executive action on immigration.<\/p>\n<p>But as\u00a0GOP strategists are quick to point out, as noted in The Hill article attached, the president&#8217;s base is holding firm right along with the impenetrable\u00a0ceiling that keeps him from soaring even higher. That ceiling is put there by stubborn Republican resistance to almost every\u00a0initiative he proposes.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s where the GOP thinks it will win the day.<\/p>\n<p>Well, what happens\u00a0then will be &#8212; dare I say it &#8212; more gridlock and more &#8220;do-nothingness.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Obama is planning to reveal a $4 trillion budget that will seek tax breaks for middle- and low-income Americans while asking wealthier Americans to pay more. There will be other areas of the budget that are certain to draw a sharp line between\u00a0the White House and Congress.<\/p>\n<p>The president believes\u00a0the wind is behind him.
