The outliers appear to be the tea party wing of the GOP, which appears to be calling the shots within the Republican caucus.<\/p>\n<p>The question now is whether President Obama will take executive action to institute reforms during the lame-duck session of Congress. As\u00a0much as the tea party &#8212; aka nut case &#8212; wing of the GOP angers me, I think the president should wait just a while longer before taking unilateral action.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"9bsph23PMH\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/223988-obama-nearing-a-final-decision-on-immigration\/\">Obama &#8216;nearing a final decision&#8217; on immigration<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Obama &#8216;nearing a final decision&#8217; on immigration&#8221; &#8212; The Hill\" src=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/223988-obama-nearing-a-final-decision-on-immigration\/embed\/#?secret=sKoWAwwar5#?secret=9bsph23PMH\" data-secret=\"9bsph23PMH\" width=\"474\" height=\"267\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Fox News reports Obama might take action next week.<\/p>\n<p>It is sure to enrage Republicans, who already are loaded for bear in the wake of their stunning election victories on Nov. 4.<\/p>\n<p>Obama is said to be considering a 10-point plan that includes deferment of\u00a0deportation\u00a0for 4.5 million illegal immigrants; it also includes a pay increase for Immigration and Naturalization Service employees.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a thought: Wait for the new Congress to take office; enlist some congressional allies to put forward your legislative proposals; debate it with Congress; let the Republicans have their say along with Democrats.<\/p>\n<p>Then, if nothing gets done, drop the executive action hammer.<\/p>\n<p>This is a fight worth\u00a0waging &#8230; but when the time is right.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<div class=\"twitter-share\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/intent\/tweet?via=jkanelis\" class=\"twitter-share-button\">Tweet<\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Immigration policy needs to be reformed.
