We’re likely to set a temperature record for the date in Amarillo before today ends.<\/p>\n

I won’t predict what it will be. I will predict, however, what’s going to be on the lips of a lot of my friends and neighbors: “Man, it’s too hot out there. When is it going to cool off? I’m tired of the heat … already.”<\/p>\n

Too bad, fellow travelers.<\/p>\n

I’ll now remind everyone of what we were saying just about eight or so weeks ago. We were wishing, begging, even praying<\/em> for warm weather to get here. Don’t you remember that? I believe I might have said a prayer or two in seeking some warmth.<\/p>\n

Our prayers have been answered, as if we didn’t know they would be, given the time of year and our location here on the High Plains of the Texas Panhandle.<\/p>\n

Summer’s still about two weeks away. However, it’s close enough to actual summer to be good enough for Mother Nature to bring some heat the region.<\/p>\n

Just remember: It gets like this every single, solitary year. We’re going to get hot. That’s what it means to live here, just as it means that we’ll get cold in the winter — and often well into the spring.<\/p>\n

Summer’s about to arrive.<\/p>\n\n
