{"id":56843,"date":"2024-03-30T02:16:02","date_gmt":"2024-03-30T02:16:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/highplainsblogger.com\/?p=56843"},"modified":"2024-03-30T02:20:23","modified_gmt":"2024-03-30T02:20:23","slug":"heading-for-the-inferno","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/highplainsblogger.com\/?p=56843","title":{"rendered":"Heading for the \u2018inferno\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"twitter-share\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/intent\/tweet?via=jkanelis\" class=\"twitter-share-button\">Tweet<\/a><\/div>\n<p>Just kidding with the headline on the top of the blog post.<\/p>\n<p>Although I am driving tomorrow to the scene of where more than 1 million acres of grassland burned in what has been described as the worst wildfire in Texas history.<\/p>\n<p>Amarillo is my destination, where I will attend Easter services and catch up with friends I haven\u2019t seen in more than a year. The massive fire didn\u2019t encroach the city limits, but it brought plenty of misery and tragedy to communities nearby.<\/p>\n<p>The Fritch fire chief perished as he sought to save someone trapped by the blaze. Thousands of livestock died in the fire, along with several other human victims.<\/p>\n<p>I haven\u2019t yet heard if the fires have been extinguished, although I do know they\u2019ve been contained.<\/p>\n<p>I hear snippets of good news. The grass is recovering nicely from the charred remains of what the fire did to our good Earth. I look forward to seeing it in person in short order.<\/p>\n<p>it\u2019s always good to go back to where my wife and I called home for more than 20 years.
