{"id":55669,"date":"2023-08-19T00:36:27","date_gmt":"2023-08-19T00:36:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/highplainsblogger.com\/?p=55669"},"modified":"2023-08-19T00:36:27","modified_gmt":"2023-08-19T00:36:27","slug":"yep-climate-is-changing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/highplainsblogger.com\/?p=55669","title":{"rendered":"Yep, climate is changing"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"twitter-share\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/intent\/tweet?via=jkanelis\" class=\"twitter-share-button\">Tweet<\/a><\/div>\n<p data-pm-slice=\"0 0 []\">The heat that is bearing down on us in Texas has quelled the arguments too often heard from those who deny the obvious.<\/p>\n<p>Which is that Earth\u2019s climate is changing \u2026 and that human beings are largely responsible for the intense warming we\u2019re experiencing.<\/p>\n<p>We keep setting heat records in the Dallas\/Fort Worth area damn near daily. The weather forecasters look down the calendar for the next week to 10 days and they say the same thing: No relief is in sight.<\/p>\n<p>Now, I truly understand the difference between weather and climate. It\u2019s just that the current weather is acting like a harbinger of what we can expect in the years \u2014 maybe decades \u2014 to come.<\/p>\n<p>National weather organizations tell us constantly that months are getting warmer; our ocean water is getting warmer, spurring more intense storms.<\/p>\n<p>Many news networks long ago quit interviewing climate change deniers, telling us their arguments are not valid, that they promote lies. I\u2019m fine with that.<\/p>\n<p>And so, here we are. The summer of 2023 has been a brutal event so far.<\/p>\n<p>I am ready for autumn.
