{"id":51024,"date":"2022-03-26T00:02:22","date_gmt":"2022-03-26T00:02:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/highplainsblogger.com\/?p=51024"},"modified":"2022-03-26T00:02:22","modified_gmt":"2022-03-26T00:02:22","slug":"how-about-impeachment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/highplainsblogger.com\/?p=51024","title":{"rendered":"How about impeachment?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"twitter-share\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/intent\/tweet?via=jkanelis\" class=\"twitter-share-button\">Tweet<\/a><\/div>\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap\">Now that I am on the record calling for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas to resign, let\u2019s look briefly at another option available to those of us who value judicial integrity: impeachment.<\/p>\n<p>I fear impeaching the justice would produce the same result as the two impeachments of Donald Trump: He would escape conviction by a U.S. Senate that lacks sufficient Republican belief in doing the right thing.<\/p>\n<p>A brief review: Thomas\u2019s wife, Ginni, is a political activist who allegedly sent numerous text messages to the White House chief of staff urging him to overturn the 2020 presidential election result that elected Joe Biden. Trump has fought against Biden\u2019s free, fair and legal election by fomenting The Big Lie about phony \u201cwidespread voter fraud.\u201d Ginni Thomas in league with Trump, who lost a Supreme Court vote on whether he could claim \u201cexecutive privilege\u201d by denying the House committee looking into the 1\/6 insurrection access to his presidential documents. The court voted 8-1 against Trump; the lone dissent came from\u00a0<em>Clarence Thomas<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Do you get where I\u2019m going here?<\/p>\n<p>If he won\u2019t quit, then perhaps the House could impeach him and bring a torrent of publicity on how Thomas\u2019s lack of integrity has compromised the SCOTUS. The Senate won\u2019t convict him, but the bad pub might be sufficient for Thomas to call it quits and perhaps spare the court on which he is now its senior member additional embarrassment and shame.<\/p>\n<p>Hey, it\u2019s just a thought.<\/p>\n<p>I still believe Justice Thomas needs to resign.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right\" style=\"text-align: right;\"><a href=\"mailto:johnkanelis_92@hotmail.com\">johnkanelis_92@hotmail.com<\/a><\/p>\n\n<div class=\"twitter-share\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/intent\/tweet?via=jkanelis\" class=\"twitter-share-button\">Tweet<\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Now that I am on the record calling for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas to resign, let\u2019s look briefly at another option available to those of us who value judicial integrity: impeachment.
