Matthews has admitted in recent days that her accusation was accurate and that he acted boorishly.<\/p>\n<p>He resigned from his &#8220;Hardball&#8221; gig on the air and then disappeared.<\/p>\n<p>Matthews just now is beginning to return to the public discussion of politics and policy. He has told interviewers that he doesn&#8217;t deserve to be defended by those who stand with him. Matthews admitted to messing up. &#8220;Don&#8217;t defend me,&#8221; he told late-night host Stephen Colbert on Monday night.<\/p>\n<p>He has taken full ownership of his transgression. I admire that about him.
