{"id":36049,"date":"2019-03-17T01:37:36","date_gmt":"2019-03-17T01:37:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/highplainsblogger.com\/?p=36049"},"modified":"2019-03-17T01:37:36","modified_gmt":"2019-03-17T01:37:36","slug":"ruckus-a-better-mascot-than-that-other-thing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/highplainsblogger.com\/?p=36049","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Ruckus&#8217; a better mascot than that . . . other thing"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"twitter-share\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/intent\/tweet?via=jkanelis\" class=\"twitter-share-button\">Tweet<\/a><\/div>\n<p>I have to hand it to the Amarillo Sod Poodles baseball organization.<\/p>\n<p>They&#8217;ve come up with a mascot for the AA baseball team that seems oh, so very appropriate for what they&#8217;ve decided to call the team.<\/p>\n<p>The mascot&#8217;s name is &#8220;Ruckus&#8221; and it looks like, well, a &#8220;Sod Poodle,&#8221; which the community is told is an old-time name for prairie dog. So, Ruckus looks a bit like a prairie dog.<\/p>\n<p>Compare &#8220;Ruckus&#8221; with what the previous baseball organization rolled out about eight years ago. It was meant to symbolize a &#8220;Sox.&#8221; It looked, well, kinda weird. And perhaps vaguely obscene.<\/p>\n<p>It was unidentifiable.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/highplainsblogger.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/amarilloinappropriatesox.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-36051\" src=\"https:\/\/highplainsblogger.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/amarilloinappropriatesox-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/highplainsblogger.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/amarilloinappropriatesox-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/highplainsblogger.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/amarilloinappropriatesox.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>See what I mean?<\/p>\n<p>So, the Sod Poodles are going to play before a sold out house at Hodgetown on April 8. It&#8217;s their home opener in the Texas League.
