I looked up the word &#8220;lie.&#8221; It says a lie is &#8220;a false statement deliberately presented as true.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The key word here is <em>&#8220;deliberately.&#8221;<\/em> Which begs the question: How does someone lie by accident, or without intending to lie?<\/p>\n<p>The judge has slammed Manafort hard, saying the president&#8217;s former campaign chairman lied to special counsel Robert Mueller&#8217;s probe into &#8220;The Russia Thing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2019\/02\/13\/694565971\/manafort-intentionally-lied-to-special-counsel-judge-says?utm_source=facebook.com&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=npr&amp;utm_term=nprnews&amp;utm_content=20190213&amp;fbclid=IwAR3Luh0v7h5fhvpCsKiszV1q5dB6kPyIWSyIvo1A_tGjNQ_nYPMZvOnuG2I\">Read the NPR story here<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Manafort lied. He did it <em>on purpose<\/em>. Which is precisely what a lie is defined as being.<\/p>\n<p>I am wondering now about this notion that somehow it is news that Manafort <em>&#8220;intentionally&#8221;<\/em> lied to Mueller.<\/p>\n<p>A false statement presented as true by accident is a &#8220;misstatement&#8221;; it&#8217;s a mistake, a verbal gaffe. Manafort has taken a page from his former boss.
