Trump said in the White House today.<\/p>\n<p><em>Wow!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/trump-suggests-protesting-should-be-illegal\/2018\/09\/04\/11cfd9be-b0a0-11e8-aed9-001309990777_story.html?utm_term=.7e0536086b3b\">Trump told the Daily Caller<\/a> &#8212; and I hope you&#8217;re sitting down when you read this &#8212; according to The Washington Post:\u00a0<em>\u201cI don\u2019t know why they don\u2019t take care of a situation like that,\u201d Trump said. \u201cI think it\u2019s embarrassing for the country to allow protesters. You don\u2019t even know what side the protesters are on.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p data-elm-loc=\"4\"><em>He added: \u201cIn the old days, we used to throw them out. Today, I guess they just keep screaming.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p data-elm-loc=\"4\">Embarrassing for the country to allow protesters? Yep. He said it.<\/p>\n<p data-elm-loc=\"4\">He clearly needs to read the U.S. Constitution, the document he took an oath to protect and defend. It lays out in the Bill of Rights that citizens are <em>entitled<\/em> to protest.<\/p>\n<p data-elm-loc=\"4\">In fact, and this is no small point, the nation was founded by a band of protesters who came to this new land to <em>protest<\/em> things such as political and religious oppression.<\/p>\n<p data-elm-loc=\"4\">Political protest is as American as it gets, Mr. President.<\/p>\n<p data-elm-loc=\"4\">Really. It is!<\/p>\n<p data-elm-loc=\"4\">If the president is discussing the unruliness of those who are yelling at U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee members and U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, I agree that they shouldn&#8217;t be allowed to disrupt a hearing. They are being &#8220;thrown out&#8221; of the hearing room by congressional security officers.<\/p>\n<p data-elm-loc=\"4\">But to ban political protest?
