{"id":2970,"date":"2013-07-25T22:54:28","date_gmt":"2013-07-25T22:54:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/highplainsblogger.wordpress.com\/?p=2970"},"modified":"2013-07-25T22:54:28","modified_gmt":"2013-07-25T22:54:28","slug":"weiners-numbers-take-a-dive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/highplainsblogger.com\/?p=2970","title":{"rendered":"Weiner poll numbers numbers take a dive"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"twitter-share\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/intent\/tweet?via=jkanelis\" class=\"twitter-share-button\">Tweet<\/a><\/div>\n<p>This is what I\u2019m talking about.<\/p>\n<p>Anthony Weiner \u2013 aka Carlos Danger \u2013 is taking a serious hit in public standing as revelations about his latest \u201csexting\u201d escapade start to sink in with New York City voters.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2013\/07\/25\/poll-anthony-weiner_n_3653422.html\" href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2013\/07\/25\/poll-anthony-weiner_n_3653422.html\">http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2013\/07\/25\/poll-anthony-weiner_n_3653422.html<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Weiner revealed this week that he engaged in lewd communications via the Internet <em>after<\/em> he resigned his congressional seat in 2011. He called a press conference with his wife, Huma Abedin, standing with him. The New York mayoral candidate vowed to \u201cmove forward\u201d and will stay in the race until the end.<\/p>\n<p>Good for him, and that\u2019s not because I want him to win. <\/p>\n<p>The former frontrunner is now running second behind fellow Democrat Christine Quinn, who\u2019s about 9 percentage points ahead of Weiner.<\/p>\n<p>Many pols and pundits have called for Weiner to drop out of the race. I maintain he should stay in and let the voters have their say. It\u2019s not out of the realm of possibility that a majority of New York Democrats will nominate him. If they do, that\u2019s to their discredit \u2013 but they have to live with the result. Thus, it\u2019s their call to make. Not mine. Not anyone else\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>My guess is that Weiner\u2019s polling will continue to slide as primary day approaches. If he loses, then we\u2019ll be done with the tasteless jokes.
