Anyone can make wild claims on the campaign trail, but it takes a serious grownup to deliver once in office. When an imposter occasionally slips through, he will be exposed eventually.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Read the complete editorial <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beaumontenterprise.com\/opinions\/editorials\/article\/EDITORIAL-Stockman-verdict-was-justified-and-12830182.php\">here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I am struck by a peculiar connection in that final paragraph I can read into the troubles of a contemporary politician.<\/p>\n<p>I suppose you could replace the name &#8220;Stockman&#8221; with &#8220;Trump&#8221; and reach the same conclusion.<\/p>\n<p>Donald J. Trump parlayed a few policy statements &#8212; immigration, making America &#8220;great again,&#8221; to name just two &#8212; that caught the imagination of enough voters to win the Electoral College in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, he made &#8220;wild claims on the campaign trail.&#8221; The president is an &#8220;imposter&#8221; who &#8220;slipped through&#8221; to win the highest office in the land.<\/p>\n<p>But will he &#8220;be exposed eventually&#8221;?<\/p>\n<p>My heart hopes that he will.<\/p>\n\n<div class=\"twitter-share\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/intent\/tweet?via=jkanelis\" class=\"twitter-share-button\">Tweet<\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Steve Stockman served two highly undistinguished non-consecutive terms in the U.S. House of Representatives.
