{"id":246,"date":"2013-05-08T22:09:00","date_gmt":"2013-05-08T22:09:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/highplainsblogger.wordpress.com\/2013\/05\/08\/cheney-shows-his-brass"},"modified":"2013-05-08T22:09:00","modified_gmt":"2013-05-08T22:09:00","slug":"cheney-shows-his-brass","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/highplainsblogger.com\/?p=246","title":{"rendered":"Cheney shows his brass"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"twitter-share\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/intent\/tweet?via=jkanelis\" class=\"twitter-share-button\">Tweet<\/a><\/div>\n<p>Dick Cheney may have more gall than any politician living today.<\/p>\n<p>The former vice president of the United States says the Benghazi, Libya attack last year that resulted in the deaths of four Americans \u2013 including the U.S. ambassador to Libya \u2013 is an example of President Obama\u2019s failed leadership in foreign policy.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2013\/05\/08\/dick-cheney-benghazi_n_3237605.html?show_comment_id=251281870#comment_251281870,sb=1147791,b=facebook\" href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2013\/05\/08\/dick-cheney-benghazi_n_3237605.html?show_comment_id=251281870#comment_251281870,sb=1147791,b=facebook\">http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2013\/05\/08\/dick-cheney-benghazi_n_3237605.html?show_comment_id=251281870#comment_251281870,sb=1147791,b=facebook<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Simply astounding, coming from this man \u2026 of all people.<\/p>\n<p>He must be suffering from amnesia. He has forgotten, apparently, that 9\/11 occurred on the watch of the administration he served. Wasn\u2019t the vice president part of the national security team when terrorists flew airplanes into the Twin Towers and into the Pentagon? Weren\u2019t they responsible for the colossal breakdown that allowed the terrorists carry out that hideous attack against Americans on U.S. soil?<\/p>\n<p>And wasn\u2019t it the Bush administration that tried and failed to bring Osama bin Laden to justice? If memory serves, that triumph occurred in May 2011 when President Barack Obama \u2013 the man Cheney criticizes with such gusto \u2013 ordered the commandos to conduct the raid that killed bin Laden. <\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ll acknowledge that plenty went wrong in Benghazi. Chaos ensues whenever firefights erupt. It happened in Benghazi and the Obama administration did a terrible job in its aftermath of explaining what happened on that terrible day.<\/p>\n<p>But to hear Dick Cheney describe the attack as the result of a leadership breakdown simply takes my breath away. If there ever was a breakdown, it occurred in the months leading up to the events of Sept. 11, 2001 \u2013 when President George W.
