{"id":22671,"date":"2017-06-26T21:23:16","date_gmt":"2017-06-26T21:23:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/highplainsblogger.com\/?p=22671"},"modified":"2017-06-26T21:23:16","modified_gmt":"2017-06-26T21:23:16","slug":"cbo-verdict-is-in-health-care-bill-is-mean","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/highplainsblogger.com\/?p=22671","title":{"rendered":"CBO verdict is in: health care bill is &#8216;mean&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"twitter-share\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/intent\/tweet?via=jkanelis\" class=\"twitter-share-button\">Tweet<\/a><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/highplainsblogger.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/mitch.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-22672\" src=\"https:\/\/highplainsblogger.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/mitch-300x197.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"197\" srcset=\"https:\/\/highplainsblogger.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/mitch-300x197.jpg 300w, https:\/\/highplainsblogger.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/mitch.jpg 728w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Congressional Budget Office doesn&#8217;t use language such as &#8220;mean&#8221; to assess its analysis of legislation, but that&#8217;s what one can surmise of its latest analysis of a key Senate bill.<\/p>\n<p>The CBO today turned in its &#8220;score&#8221; of the Senate Republican-passed health care legislation and it has told us:<\/p>\n<p>* 22 million more Americans are going to be uninsured.<\/p>\n<p>* The budget deficit will be cut more than $300 billion over the next decade, but that&#8217;s because of cuts in Medicaid spending for those Americans with financial need.<\/p>\n<p>* There will be lower premiums, but there also will be less coverage.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/news\/politics\/cbo-senate-gop-health-care-bill-would-leave-22-million-more-people-uninsured-by-2026\/ar-BBDil8q?li=BBmkt5R&amp;ocid=spartandhp\">It&#8217;s still a &#8220;mean&#8221; overhaul<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Donald J. Trump said he wanted a less &#8220;mean&#8221; health care insurance plan than what the House of Representatives approved. The CBO score suggests that the Senate version of health care overhaul doesn&#8217;t make the grade.<\/p>\n<p>Is the GOP plan in trouble? That depends on who&#8217;s doing the talking. Since this blog gives me a voice to speak out, I&#8217;ll suggest that Senate Republicans on the fence or leaning against the overhaul well might be inclined to vote &#8220;no&#8221; on this new plan if it comes to a vote later this week.<\/p>\n<p>The president promised he wouldn&#8217;t touch Medicaid, that Americans who rely on Medicaid will continue to rely on it once he repealed and replaced the Affordable Care Act with something else.<\/p>\n<p>It looks to me as though this promise won&#8217;t be kept.<\/p>\n<p>Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has his work cut out for him as he looks for the votes to approve this bill.<\/p>\n\n<div class=\"twitter-share\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/intent\/tweet?via=jkanelis\" class=\"twitter-share-button\">Tweet<\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Congressional Budget Office doesn&#8217;t use language such as &#8220;mean&#8221; to assess its analysis of legislation, but that&#8217;s what one can surmise of its latest analysis of a key Senate bill.
