{"id":120,"date":"2013-06-02T21:11:00","date_gmt":"2013-06-02T21:11:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/highplainsblogger.wordpress.com\/2013\/06\/02\/whos-he-to-call-someone-a-liar"},"modified":"2013-06-02T21:11:00","modified_gmt":"2013-06-02T21:11:00","slug":"whos-he-to-call-someone-a-liar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/highplainsblogger.com\/?p=120","title":{"rendered":"Who\u2019s he to call someone a \u2018liar\u2019?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"twitter-share\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/intent\/tweet?via=jkanelis\" class=\"twitter-share-button\">Tweet<\/a><\/div>\n<p>I hate it when politicians toss derogatory terms at others without a hint of self-awareness.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. House Government Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa, R-Calif., is just the latest to commit such an offense.<\/p>\n<p>Issa this weekend called White House press spokesman Jay Carney a \u201cpaid liar\u201d because of Carney\u2019s responses to questions about the Internal Revenue Service controversy and whether the tax agency bullied conservative non-profit groups unfairly.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/blogs\/politico-live\/2013\/06\/issa-carney-is-a-paid-liar-165187.html?hp=l2\" href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/blogs\/politico-live\/2013\/06\/issa-carney-is-a-paid-liar-165187.html?hp=l2\">http:\/\/www.politico.com\/blogs\/politico-live\/2013\/06\/issa-carney-is-a-paid-liar-165187.html?hp=l2<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Who does this clown, Issa, think he\u2019s kidding with such talk? Does he believe his own spokesperson or the individual who speaks for his committee, or any flack who\u2019s hired to spin answers to suit his or her employer don\u2019t use the same slippery tactics that he accuses Carney?<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, Issa needs to take great care when talking so badly about others. He\u2019s been sitting tall on some high horse trying to find answers to the Benghazi tragedy that resulted in the deaths of four U.S. foreign service officers. Meanwhile, the nation has learned that Republicans on his committee \u2013 may have been Issa himself, for all we know \u2013 edited email communications coming out of the State Department to make people in the Obama administration look bad.<\/p>\n<p>Is that fair? Is that honest? Is that, shall we say, the conduct of individuals who themselves aren\u2019t \u201cpaid liars\u2019?<\/p>\n<p>Issa needs to tone it down.
