Is it vitally important for Clinton &#8212; or any leading politician &#8212; to use those words when describing terrorist organizations?<\/p>\n<p>Her Republican opponents say it is. The leading Democratic presidential candidate, though, answered with a statement of her own, invoking the words &#8212; of all people &#8212; of former\u00a0<em>Republican<\/em> President George W. Bush.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/blogs\/live-from-des-moines\/2015\/11\/democratic-debate-hillary-clinton-george-w-bush-215879\">We are not at war with Islam,<\/a> President Bush said in September 2001 after the 9\/11 attacks. The fight, he said, was against extremists, those who have perverted what he called a religion of &#8220;peace.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Clinton and President Obama have gone to great lengths to avoid using the words &#8220;radical Islam,&#8221; giving their foes plenty of ammo to use against them.<\/p>\n<p>Personally, I think the words &#8220;radical Islam&#8221; are quite appropriate to describe our foes.<\/p>\n<p>But does it really matter more what we <em>say<\/em> about them more than what we <em>do<\/em> to fight them?<\/p>\n<p>No.<\/p>\n<p>This debate is getting bogged down in a game of semantics.
