{"id":10065,"date":"2015-07-07T22:11:10","date_gmt":"2015-07-07T22:11:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/highplainsblogger.com\/?p=10065"},"modified":"2015-07-07T22:11:10","modified_gmt":"2015-07-07T22:11:10","slug":"trumps-brilliance-questioned","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/highplainsblogger.com\/?p=10065","title":{"rendered":"Trump&#8217;s &#8216;brilliance&#8217; questioned"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"twitter-share\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/intent\/tweet?via=jkanelis\" class=\"twitter-share-button\">Tweet<\/a><\/div>\n<p>I get a lot of\u00a0Facebook posts from former U.S. Labor Secretary Robert Reich, who&#8217;s teaching these days at the University of California, but who remains dialed in to what&#8217;s happening politically.<\/p>\n<p>Here is his latest rant &#8230; about The Donald.<\/p>\n<div id=\"id_559c4cc8c04291100324976\" class=\"text_exposed_root text_exposed\">\n<p><em>&#8220;This morning I heard an apologist for Donald Trump say &#8216;at least he\u2019s a brilliant businessman.&#8217;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Baloney. Trump companies have filed for corporate bankruptcy four separate times. If you or I went bankrupt, all our assets would be used to repay our debts. If you\u2019re a former student who can\u2019t pay your student debt, or an underwater homeowner who can\u2019t make a mortgage payment, you can\u2019t even file for bankruptcy. But Trump has used bankruptcy and corporate laws to shield his pers<span class=\"text_exposed_show\">onal fortune, allowing him to amass huge debts with little or no downside risk while enjoying all the upside gains. <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"text_exposed_show\">\n<p><em>&#8220;Trump also made his fortune by squeezing employees. As Bloomberg Business reports today, Trump operates one of the stingiest 401(k) plans in America. You can\u2019t even join it until you spend a year as an employee, and Trump\u2019s contribution doesn\u2019t kick in for six years \u2013 the slowest vesting schedule allowed under U.S. law. Between March 2009 and June 2012, Trump suspended all contributions.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;He\u2019s no brilliant businessman.
